Some people enjoy applying their own makeup; others don’t have the time, materials or skill to create the look they would really like. Both of these groups can benefit from professional microblading – which is why, by attending microblading courses, you can help fill a crucial demand.

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow shaping technique whereby hair-like strokes are created on the brow line. The technique, which uses a nano-blade dipped in pigment, is sometimes referred to as eyebrow embroidery or micro-stroking. The goal is to enhance the natural look of the eyebrows, or to create a new look. While microblading is a form of tattoo, the effects do become blurred or faded over a period of time. When this happens, the procedure can be repeated safely and effectively.

The process starts with an assessment of the client’s features and existing brows. The technician mixes the pigment that is best suited to the client’s skin tone and hair color, and then uses a hand-held machine to draw natural-looking hair-like strokes on the brow line.

This technique can be used to create a complete set of eyebrows from scratch, or to shape and define existing brows. A variety of looks can be created, from natural and understated, to classic, to dramatic.

Both men and women choose microblading for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, the client simply wants well-defined eyebrows. In other cases, an accident, illness or medical treatment may result in gaps that need to be filled in.

Why Is Proper Training Important?

Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing. And like any tattoo, someone without proper training can botch the job. Some of the issues that can happen as a result of an improperly performed procedure include the following:

  • The individual’s facial measurements are not done correctly, resulting in the wrong shape and style
  • The color of the pigment is not the right match for the individual’s skin tone and hair color
  • The wrong needle is used in the microblading tool, resulting in hair strokes that are not the right thickness
  • Topical anaesthetics or numbing agents are not used effectively, leading to an uncomfortable or painful experience for the individual
